Nine Years

TopakAnthology Ep.1: Today marks the 9th year of how everything started… I mean from my old so-called journals up to this blog.

Actually, you can see it in the Timeline section of my blog. But I’ll still give a short summary (again) of how everything was in the last nine years.

I was in first year high school ( 1998 ) when I attempted to make a journal where I wrote anything I want. I don’t know if I can call it a journal because I let my friends read it. Haha. Maybe during that time, I didn’t have enough courage to talk to my friends about some things. I loved writing in my journal. One day, I had the idea of putting some twists in my journal.

It was in May 8, 1999 when I applied all my gathered ideas into a new journal. I called it “The MS Station”. It has been the title of my journal for almost a year. It was also where I first placed the ideas of so-called depertments. Some of the first departments I used were: Fan Mail, My Point of View, etc.

After more than a year, I decided to rename my journal into something that would sound related to me. And so, I renamed my journal to (R). Hahaha. But it didn’t last that long. I then renamed it to Rowell 411. The same format with The MS Station went on - old departments, with new departments.

Around July of 2001, I then renamed my journal again to “Special”, inspired by the song of Vitamin C with the same title. It was just the same with the previous ones, but what I like about it is that I somehow had a positive thinking during those days because I tried to find all special things and happenings in every single day I wrote in my journal. It went on until March 2002.

I somehow became lazy of writing in my journal during March of 2002. Maybe because I was about to leave my high school life, and nobody will read my journal anymore. Haha. After that, my ballpens and colored pens rested. My journal days ended as I left high school…

But during my first days in college, I was really looking for an outlet where I can write the things I want. I then revived my journal, but it was unsuccessful.

Creation of personal websites was a trend for me and my friends back in college. I thought that it would be a nice way for me to express my ideas again. And so, R Beat Online was born. I created several versions of my site until 2004.

It was in year 2005 when I decided to be serious about blogging. It is much better than updating a static site over and over again. My first blog was in Blogger, and I named it as “The Roller Coaster Experience”, which had three seasons/versions/whatever! I also renamed it as “Sound of My Soul”, and “Intertwined Quests”. I also had other blogs besides my main blog.

It was in 2006 when the word “Rowjielogy” crossed my mind. I kept it for a while and then I used it as the new title of my blog back in June 2006. I was still in Blogger by that time. I also moved to Blogsome for a month. I was in the period of experimenting different blog applications that time.

In March 1, 2007, I finally decided to use WordPress for my new blog. I am contented with the features of WordPress (especially it’s mobile blogging feature) that’s why I still use WordPress up to this moment.

And that’s my humble story of how everything started. I cannot say that the past 9 years had been fast because there were really a lot of things that happened. This story might be simple for many people, but it really has a lot of meaning to me. Next year is a special one for me because it would be celebrating it’s 10th year anniversary… a decade. And it would be nice to go back to all these years. I’m looking forward to more years of blogging… or whatever technology will bring us in the near future!
